The Law

The 3 Pillars of a Legal GM

To avoid your bank account being frozen, your GM must meet these three non-negotiable criteria.

1. Valid Residency

The GM must be a Saudi National, a GCC National, or a Foreigner with a valid Iqama under the company’s sponsorship.

2. Active Contract

There must be a digital employment contract registered on the Qiwa platform, defining the role and salary.

3. WPS Payment

Salary must be transferred from corporate bank to personal account. Cash is illegal.

No. For most business sectors, the GM can be a foreign national, provided they hold a valid residency (Iqama) and their profession on the ID matches the role.
Absolutely not. Cash payments do not register on the Wage Protection System (WPS). If the system shows 0 salary paid, your company services will be blocked.
Legally no fixed minimum for expats, but banks expect a realistic managerial salary (e.g., 5,000+ SAR) to approve the account.
